Android One - The Good, the bad but nothing ugly!

So I recently heard of Google CEO Planning to release  some new Android One smartphones for the sweet price of $30 (Around Rs.2000), that's actually good news. But a newcomer will wonder what Android One is and what's all this stuff about? So let’s get started:

What's Android One?

Android One was Google's plan to reach the part of the world's population that doesn't have access to smartphones or cannot afford to buy an expensive smartphone, this project was launched in 2014 starting in India with three smartphones (Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream Uno and Karbonn Sparkle V) with identical features.

All the smartphones so far have Google recommended hardware and a stock version of android and get updated to the latest version of Android as soon as it rolls out.

BENEFITS :
  • Stock Android experience.
  • Timely Updates to the latest version of Android.
  • Relatively cheap.
  • Good performance.
  • And many others.

Would not highlight the disadvantages, since I think there aren't many of them.

Success or failure:

I would neither call the thing so far as a success or a failure, it has reached people it needed to, plus I also use it and am pretty biased towards the opinion. The phones are all great, but yes. Android one couldn't perform as well as it was expected to. However, we could see a better performance by the new band of Android one smartphone that are to be rolled out soon.

The best Android one phone in India so far? (Mid 2016)

The answer is straightaway the Micromax Canvas A1.

Reason:

Although all the phones except for the Lava Pixel V1 have the same features, but Micromax 'Can' provide better after-purchase service (This is not to say that the others won't provide good service), therefore Micromax Canvas A1 is the best 'budget' (remember, Android One's goal was to reach the people who cannot could not afford it, while Lava Pixel V1, though being a good phone, is both relatively and quite expensive to be called a budget phone.) phone. The Canvas A1 also has a great premium looking packaging, unlike other Android One phones.

The performance is great, rear camera is great, and almost everything is great. Display is awesome even after a relatively fine pixel density. Have a look:

The reason for not considering Lava Pixel V1 is that it is a bit expensive to be called a budget phone, plus it has some real problems as highlighted by Gadgets360, camera performance is mediocre, the processing is sub-par as per the price tag, but it too is a Good phone, because of some of its other features.

Hope that cleared it a bit, remember, everything I post is simply my opinion, others might have other thoughts.
