Firefox OS - Great for the least and Zen Ultrafone U105 Review.

Firefox OS is a comparatively new mobile Phone and TV Operating System that was launched in 2013, it gained popularity in the period 2014-15 due to its extremely cheap range of handsets and devices that run it. From the words of the developers of Firefox OS itself: the motive was to replace feature phones and give the people who had been using them at least something.

And that hasn't disappointed, the Firefox OS is a great OS for beginners and even for those who are familiar to smartphones, in fact; my first smartphone was running  Firefox OS 1.3. It is very customizable, its handsets are extremely affordable and a perfect replacement for feature phones; with great specs.

ZEN ULTRAFONE U105 FIRE REVISITED

One of the phones that runs Firefox OS is the Zen Ultrafone U105 Fire, I purchased it in 2015.
I have used this device for a long time, and guess what it isn't bad, in fact its great for its Rs.1700 (Approx. $27). It runs Firefox OS 1.3.
Right at the time of unboxing, you would see this beautiful case it comes in:

Its got a 2 MP Rear Camera and a VGA front camera, the image isn't clear in any of them, but it sortof gets the work done.

The processor is of 1 GHz, its quite fast considering that capacity. Don't get fooled by the 128 MB RAM; apps on the OS are very small (KBs) and hence need little to no space on the RAM, and thus multitasking is easy.
The sound quality however isn't that nice, however, it is still better then a feature phone it is meant to replace.
Display is pretty clear, you can't expect a screen of 3.5 inches to be this bright.

Web browsing is a true pain, there are frequent 'It's embarrassing' screens on the only browser that is supported, while loading heavy webpages.

The connectivity too is good, but not great, the device does struggle with bluetooth pairing at times and can't catch up with wifi routers less than 15 m away.

Verdict:

Overall, it is a great mobile phone with a great OS, perfect for you if you have a budget of less than Rs.2000 and still want a great phone. This one's built just for those people. ;)
