Android Apps coming to Chromebooks!

Chrome books haven't been a lot of people's choice, it is something described as way ahead of its time and just doesn't fit into the realm of today's world. Due to its requirement of constant connection to internet, which most of the people in the world still don't have.

This might well change for now, and a lot of people might want to own a chromebook with the announcement made by Google at its I/O 2016, that people can now download and use completely functional Android apps.

The next Chrome OS update brings the power and functionality of a hybrid of Chrome OS and Android, on which one can download, use web apps as a Chrome OS software and also use Android apps, since Google Play Store is integrated into it.

The downloading of Android apps would require internet but I can use my android smartphone and tablet without an internet connection, which is a great thing and is highly restrictive on a Chromebook, it's basically just a web browser scaled up to great pixel density and an awesome interface.

The Verge released a whole video covering the topic and it clearly shows that the apps run smoothly with Google Play Store integrated perfectly, because it is not being emulated, it is seamlessly integrated into the code of the Chrome OS.

  • What it will mean for Chromebooks?

The Chromebooks haven't had much coverage and purchases, with Android coming to them, it might just help Chromebooks outpace it's competitors, since Android is the most popular mobile phone OS and is loved by almost everyone for the features it gives and that might be the reason Google has decided to do this.

For much such updates, stay tuned to this blog.
